The word 'locavore' meaning someone who primarily eats food from their own region. Local food resources have become more important and easier considering what's available to purchase from local farmers, markets and festivals. In years gone by we used to eat with the seasons, but imported produce and convenience foods have given us a wide variety of foods all year round. In-season fruit and vegetables cost less, taste better and are more readily available so as the seasons change so will we. Some of our stocks will be listed as 'Out of season" while we add some of our winter stock, which will offer some variety and perhaps inspire being able to cook with something new each season. Cooking seasonally is the best way to ensure fresh, in some instances organic, local produce which also provides us with a delicious dose of necessary vitamins and minerals. To entice you, we will be putting together various vegetables and ingredients into a "Made it myself" package. These packages will contain the basic ingredients to make a complete meal with fresh, locally supplied produce. We hope you enjoy these as much as we've enjoyed experimenting with them on your behalf.
